Medisoft held it's national convention this year in January in Mesa, Arizona and confirmed they would continue the same pricing for upgrades.  But first, why does Medisoft keep creating new upgrades?  There are three reasons; 1)  healthcare billing changes, 2) technology changes and 3) added time saving features.
     All of us will breath a sign of relief on May 23, 2008 when the NPI implementation should be complete; shortly there after we are going to start facing the new implementation of eight diagnoses codes and ICD-10 codes.  Healthcare billing changes are never ending with HIPAA, NPI, new CMS forms or diagnosis codes; so Medisoft needs to program on to stay on top of the changes.  The same is true with the new Vista operating system and of course, Medisoft is constantly trying to improve their performance in time saving features.
    What do you need to know about upgrading?  First, Medisoft supports the two current versions.  So, the first week of March when Version 14 is released, they will support versions 12 and 14.  This means if you have version 11 or before, you will want to upgrade to be on a supported version.  
    Next, it's important to understand the pricing structure.  Medisoft charges 29% to upgrade one version and 85% to upgrade two versions.  So, for version 11 users, if you upgrade to version 12 now, it will cost 29% and then you will be supported for another year.  In a year from now, if you upgrade again it will cost another 29% for a total of 58% to go up two versions.  Let's say you wait a couple more weeks when version 14 is issued then you can no longer get version 12 and you must pay 85% to have a supported version.
