Backup Root Data

Most offices are familiar with the notion that their data needs to be backed up.  And, of course, they should create multiple backups that are rotated and kept offsite.  However, not everyone is familiar with the the feature in Medisoft called Backup Root Data.  To look at this feature, go to File on the top menu bar and select Backup Root Data from the drop-down menu.  This will bring a pop-up window for you to complete the task.  Inside this window, if you select Help, it will give complete details of how and why to backup root data.  Complete Details
In a nutshell, what does this do?  Backing up Root Data backs up the registration files and shared files (such as global logins) that are within the Medidata folder but outside of the practice data folder.  If the root data is not backed up and your computer fails and/or data is corrupted (many say it's not "if" your computer will fail but "when" your computer fails - just like your car), you would need to reinstall Medisoft on a new computer and restore a practice backup.  This however will not restore your registration or shared files.  Hence, you will need to Restore Root Data to recover the root data.
By implementing Backup Root Data, you can save hours of frustration!
