ICD-9

     October 1, 2008 is the date the new ICD-9 codes went into effect.  Many providers have already experienced those pesky denials for updated and revised codes.  Here's a great website that's FREE to view codes:

     Also, as the ICD-10 codes loam nearer to us, it's important to stay abreast of the implementation deadlines.  On August 22, CMS issued a proposed rule to implement the ICD-10 codes on 2011.  This started a 60 day commenting period.  Once the comments have been reviewed and potential changes made, the rule will be adopted and the two year clock starts ticking for full implementation.   Here are a couple of great websites to help you stay informed on the upcoming changes.
